As the school counselor, I am able to meet with students individually or in groups if deemed necessary by their parent, teacher or principal. Students may also request to see me. They often want to talk about things that impact their learning at school, such as friendships, emotions, and self-esteem. In my office students can feel free to talk about what worries them and ask questions, with the understanding that confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Please be aware that parental consent is necessary for your child to receive counseling services on a regular basis. I would like to be a resource for your child throughout the school year. My goal is to help your child be successful both academically and socially in the school setting.
Teaching classroom guidance lessons is something I value and truly enjoy! At the elementary level, these lessons focus on character, kindness, friendships, and recognizing emotions. Students also learn about coping skills and how to utilize them in different situations. Middle school guidance relates to careers, addictions, decision-making, peer pressure, and of course...bullying. Topics will change as necessary, based upon current trends at each level, as well as teacher input.
